Job Summary:

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Data Coordinator in the Technical Services Division. This position performs complex geographic information system (GIS) data development, maintenance, integration, and analysis as required to manage and maintain the District’s enterprise GIS database of wastewater, natural resources, green infrastructure, water reclamation facilities, and real estate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform GIS data maintenance of the District’s enterprise GIS database, including data editing, analysis, research, investigation, and verification, while complying with quality control standards.
  • Create and maintain visual deliverables (maps, plans, exhibits, etc.) displaying geospatial data and/or spatial analysis results.
  • Perform spatial analysis using GIS.
  • Create and maintain web-mapping applications using ArcGIS Online.
  • Serve as GIS technical resource to MSMD staff.
  • Assist internal and external users in retrieval of District records/data as per Wisconsin Public Records Law: Wis. Stat. §19.31-19.39.
  • Develop and perform training/outreach to internal District employees and external contacts.
  • Support Diggers Hotline ticket requests pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 182.0175.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Two to three years of job related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to meet expectations of internal and external customers
  • Knowledge of District’s filing and drawing systems
  • Knowledge of the sewer and watercourse systems, land records, real estate interests, green infrastructure and treatment plant facilities and structures.
  • Familiarity with utilities, engineering drawings, and land records mapping
  • Computer software proficiency including Esri ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcGIS Online, RDBMS, Document Management Software
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
