DIS has an immediate opening for a Survey and Geospatial Technician in Wisconsin. This position will
assist with establishing standards for survey and drafting practices; lead the effort to integrate advanced
technologies into workflows to optimize efficiencies; be a liaison between surveying and GIS operations
within DIS; perform QA/QC of deliverables; interface with clients and perform fieldwork. The chosen
candidate is expected to be proficient or advanced with modern survey technologies, monitor technological
advancements and if needed, suggest equipment upgrades (supported by a business case) to the Survey
Director.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experienced with Trimble or Leica software and firmware, Civil 3D and the ability to integrate and manage data for efficient operations
- Experienced delivering efficient construction layout services for the transportation, energy and utility sectors.
- Experience or desire to learn 3D data acquisition and processing (Terrestrial & mobile)
- Experience or desire to learn ArcGIS
- Proven creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills including written and oral
- Dedicated to teamwork and professional development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software products
- Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 50 pounds of equipment, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Ability to travel to offices within Wisconsin and occasional travel throughout the United States
Job Location:
- Preferred in Madison WI. however; others considered (Green Bay or Fond du Lac) depending on the candidate.
Required education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Engineering.
Required license or certification:
- None however, preference will be given to those with a PLS, CST Certifications or on the path for the same.
