Job Summary:
The University of Iowa Department of Geographical & Sustainability Sciences invites applications for the position of Lecturer. We seek a highly motivated educator interested in innovative, evidence-based strategies for teaching physical geography and geographic information science (e.g., flipped classroom, team-based learning, experiential learning, online and blended delivery).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Specific instructional assignments will depend on the candidate’s expertise consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and students. Teaching will include both lower and middle division courses, as well as in-class and on-line formats. The appointment will begin in August 2017.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Geography or related field
- Ability to teach introductory courses in physical geography and geographic information science
- Ability to teach intermediate courses in physical geography or geographic information science
- Proven record of teaching excellence
- Interest in evidence-based and online education
Desired Qualifications:
- History of offering successful online courses
- Knowledge of evidence-based educational practices
- Active research program in physical geography or geographic information science
