Job Summary:
Performs full range of professional level analytical work related to the development and implementation of systems, databases and macros to create, maintain, display and update the geographic information system. Provides link between companywide business data and location-based intelligence. Serves as a liaison to Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Accounting on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies including, but not limited to data analysis, documentation, and project management. Has a balance of technical acumen and business understanding, high attention to detail and creative problem solving. Develops applications that use geospatial technology to solve and document complex business problems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluates large data sets, synthesizes data, develops analysis, and communicates strategic recommendations
- Builds and maintains data models, reporting, data automation, key performance metrics, and dashboards to help drive key business decisions.
- Conducts ongoing analysis of trends, variance analysis and performance indicators
- Supports implementation of systems to support and automate data
- Lead the design and development of analytical projects designed to understand key business behaviors such as site performance, analyzing customer behavior and trends and data mining.
- Confers with and acts as the liaison with departmental staff to determine current manual systems for automation; defines needs and defines required output and user documentation.
- Develops systems and application documentation, user-training materials and quality control procedures; prepares a variety of technical reports, correspondence, manuals and other written materials.
- Plans and conducts a variety of analytical studies related to the development and implementation of the GIS system; evaluates alternatives and makes recommendations.
- Delivers results on a wide range of analytics using GIS and business data in a fast-paced environment; shows ability to respond to changing priorities with fact-based solutions.
- Makes presentations to representatives of other depts. regarding the GIS systems and services.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the dept.’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of the team.
- Attends training and upgrades knowledge of GIS system use; applies and documents new techniques as they are implemented.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers as well as cross-functionally.
- Act as a mentor and actively shares knowledge, learning’s and best practices across the team and may provide input into the departmental budget regarding GIS software, equipment and training.
- Must demonstrate strong ability to program and integrate disparate consumer, spatial and business data into accessible, intuitive and user-friendly Alteryx workflows and analytic apps – transform data into information. Upload analytic apps to Alteryx Server
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or geographic studies or a field related to the work
- 5-7 years of experience in working with automated geographic information systems
- 5+ years of experience programming with data analytic tools such as Alteryx; creating and running workflows, knowledge of analytic apps and uploading apps to Alteryx Server is a must
- Understanding of SQL database and connections is a plus
- Excellent computer skills including experience with GIS software package (MapInfo) is preferred
- Knowledge of the wireless industry is preferred
- Exposure to Tableau is a plus
- Experience working effectively with large data files, ability to look at data and identify patterns, problems, or analysis opportunities
- Experience in Customer-level data analysis (customer segmentation, predictive modeling, etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks and initiatives
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, project management, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner with both technical and non-technical customers.
- Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally to deliver results
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels within and outside the organization
- Strong understanding of team dynamics; experience in forming and leading multiple teams.
- Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment with potential for rapidly changing priorities.
