Job Summary & Duties:

Under general supervision and within a team setting, this position will provide the Bureau of Parks and Recreation Management with a variety of professional GIS related duties and project management. The position will coordinate the collection of GIS data for state park, forest, and other public properties from around the state. Will analyze and utilize data collection to help manage the of cartographic production, spatial analysis, and property research for DNR properties.

Creation of complex cartographic maps that will be used primarily for planning DNR owned and managed properties. Includes both the creation of high quality, custom maps and/or mapping applications for customer use, marketing, websites, presentation/publication and working maps for planning team use. This position will receive guidance and direction from the State Parks Director, Deputy Director, and Section Chiefs. Coordinate with multi-divisional staff to document and implement cartographic, database and GIS process standards, to maintain production integrity. Work with property managers and others, to compile accurate property data for master plan maps and other programs consuming property spatial data. Perform spatial analysis to meet master planning business needs of the Bureau of Parks and Recreation Management and its property holding programs in the Fish, Wildlife, and Forestry Divisions.

Qualifications:

  • Strong cartographic skills and experience in professional and standardized map production.ent 
  • Experience in the use of ArcGIS 10.X in a Windows environment. 
  • Operate a variety of computer and related equipment including graphic applications, media devices, printers and plotters. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of public and private organizations for the exchange of information, request fulfillment and resolution of questions and/or concerns. 
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently and in group settings, while exercising sound judgment.

Other information:

This position is for 20 hours/week. We plan to hire one person to fill this position and the Parks and Recreation Specialist position (Job Announcement Code 1701430, Job ID 11406) which is also for 20 hours/week.
