State of the Map US is coming to Madison from June 11-13, 2026. State of the Map US is an annual gathering of OpenStreetMap community members, bringing together hundreds of people, including mappers, private companies, humanitarian organizations, government agencies and academia, to learn about and share ideas for innovative applications of open source and open data.
The event is the work of OpenStreetMap US, a local US chapter of the The OpenStreetMap Foundation. The OpenStreetMap Foundation is a UK-based nonprofit that administers the OpenStreetMap database.
The event will be held at the Madison Concourse Hotel. Previous State of the Map US events have been held in Boston, Tucson, Minneapolis, New York, Washington DC and elsewhere in the country. This is the first time the event will be held in Wisconsin.
A call for sponsorships is now open, along with event registration, hotel accommodation at reduced rates and fellowship applications. A call for proposals (a talk, workshop, mapathon, poster, or other event) is open until February 16, 2026.
