A new exhibit entitled “Unruly Territories” at the James Watrous Gallery features map-inspired art designed by Amy Chaloupka. Chaloupka is an assistant curator at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan. As an artist she uses maps to create transformed and imaginary landscapes. Her work has been featured at galleries throughout Wisconsin and elsewhere in the country.
The Exhibit runs through June 12, 2011 with an opening reception on Friday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. The James Watrous Gallery is located in the Overture Center at 201 State Street in Madison and is a program of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters.
Chaloupka is also scheduled to present a Map Society of Wisconsin talk entitled “Unruly Territories: Map-Inspired Art” at the American Geographical Society Library (Third Floor, East Wing, Golda Meir Library, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. For additional information email the American Geographical Society Library.
