We have some important news to share regarding SCO Web services on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026.
The last step in our temporary move out of historic Science Hall on the UW-Madison campus requires 4-8 hours of downtime for our main Website and some of our most popular Web applications. We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause, but the downtime is unavoidable because all of our physical servers are moving out of their current home in Science Hall to a new data center in the Madison area.
The following services will be unavailable on July 14th:
Main SCO Website
Survey Control Finder
Statewide Parcel Map Viewer
Parcel Data Downloads (downloads are also available via GeoData@Wisconsin, which is unaffected)
Historic Aerial Imagery Finder
Aerial Photography Catalog
PLSS Locator
These Web applications are unaffected by the move:
GeoData@Wisconsin
Bearing Trees
Bordner Survey Viewer
County Surveyors Directory
Culvert Inventory
Hidden Communities
Pronounce Wisconsin
We hope services will be restored by midday on the 14th, but “expect the unexpected” is the key phrase for the day! If you have time-sensitive work affected by this outage, please contact us at help@sco.wisc.edu to see if we can provide alternative options in the interim.
