Governor names appointees to WLIB

Governor Jim Doyle has made his first appointments to the Wisconsin Land Information Board. At the time Doyle took office this January there were several vacancies on the WLIB. He announced his appointments on October 10.

Reappointed was Mike Romportl, Land Information Officer for Oneida County. He fills a position that has no term. Joyce Fiacco, the Land Information Officer for Dodge County, will be joining the board as a new member with a position expiring in May 1, 2005.

A new face to many in the land information community is Jim Baumgart from Sheboygan who served in the legislature through last fall’s election. His term expires May 1, 2007.

The WLIB is composed of fifteen members including five state agency representatives and the state cartographer, none of whom are appointed by the governor. The remaining nine positions are appointed of which eight have staggered terms of 6-years.

With these three appointments, WLIB membership is up to twelve. The remaining three appointments may be made soon.
