DeLoatch named to head FGDC

Ivan DeLoatch has been named staff director of the Federal Geographic Data Committee. Previously the named designee to the FGDC from the Environmental Protection Agency, DeLoatch had been serving in an interim capacity as staff director since the retirement of John Moeller.

The FGDC is charged with coordination across federal agencies in concert with other interested parties (e.g., states, cities, professional organizations). Activities include development of standards, funding of pilot projects and targeted educational programs, and integration with other federal programs involving collection and distribution of geographic data.
