The UW-Madison Applied Population Laboratory (APL) will host an open house on Thursday, April 23, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm in Agricultural Hall on the UW campus.  They are inviting everyone to drop by and check out their new “look and feel,” learn about recent work happening in the APL, and enjoy light refreshments.  The event will be of interest to geospatial pros because APL uses GIS extensively in many of their projects.  For more information, check out the Applied Population Lab Web site.

The Applied Population Laboratory is a group of research and outreach professionals located within the Department of Rural Sociology at UW-Madison. The APL provides information solutions through a unique set of skills that unites applied demography; spatial information and analysis; community development and planning; and information applications.  In addition to consulting and direct client service, they train undergraduate and graduate students, conduct independent research on current demographic and geographic topics, provide online access to data through their WisStat and GetFacts applications, and serve as a State Data Center in Wisconsin.
