University of Wisconsin faculty, staff, and students are to coming together for the annual Geospatial Summit to discuss geospatial projects and initiatives. The 2013 Summit will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Union South building on UW-Madison campus.
Last year’s Geospatial Summit attracted about 85 geospatial professionals. This year the keynote speaker will be Prof. David Tulloch, a UW-Madison alumnus and professor of Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University. Prof. Tulloch will be speaking on the role of VGI (Volunteered Geographic Information), PPGIS (Public Participation GIS), and public data in changing GIS. The Summit will also include a series of research presentations, several discussion sessions, and an informal social gathering.
Attendance at the Summit is open to all, and there is no registration fee.

The Summit is organized by the UW-Madison Geospatial Alliance, a group of faculty, staff, and students involved in GIS. The Alliance is a network for sharing information and resources, and helping support student needs through a help desk, online course schedules, and information about service-learning and career opportunities.
