Roundup of Upper Midwest GIS conferences for spring of 2013

Several states in the Upper Midwest are hosting GIS conferences in the spring of 2103. These conferences are good opportunities to find out what’s going on in our “neighborhood” as well as connect with GIS professionals in nearby states.

Iowa

IGIC (Iowa Geographic Information Council) will be holding its 2013 Biennial Conference on April 2-4, 2013, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Conference is organized by IGIC as an opportunity for GIS users across the state of Iowa and the Midwest to network with other GIS’ers and learn more about geospatial technologies. This year’s theme is “GIS’t Map It” — reflecting a combination of the common phrases “Git’r Done” and “Just Do It.” The goals of the conference are for users to meet with other users, for new users to learn about effective best practices, for advanced users to learn about new practices, and for all users to find products and resources to make their jobs easier.

Illinois

ILGISA (Illinois Geographic Infomation Systems Association) will be holding its 19th annual Spring Conference on April 17-18, 2013, in Champaign, Illinois. The theme of the conference is “Mapping from the Clouds” including new methodologies and solutions for geospatial technology. The event will feature workshops, technical sessions, technology demonstrations, project updates, and national and state speakers.

Michigan

IMAGIN, a professional association of GIS users in Michigan, is hosting the 2013 Annual Conference and Expo on April 28-30, 2013, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The theme of the conference is “Making the Connection.” This theme has many facets: the connection between the jobs we need to do and the technology and data available to do it, as well as the connection between ourselves, our colleagues and the GIS community as a whole.
