The ASPRS Western Great Lakes Region recently announced the availability of two travel scholarships to help graduate and undergraduate students attend national conferences.

DNR Releases Statewide Mapping Application to Address Open Lands Question

Yesterday, in a press release, Governor Scott Walker announced the availability of a new statewide mapping application to help outdoor enthusiasts locate over a million acres of private land that is potentially available for public access under Wisconsin’s Managed Forest Law (MFL) tax status.

The 2012 Atlas of Design Completed

The North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) has recently published The Atlas of Design, edited by recent alumni Daniel Huffman and current graduate student Tim Wallace in the Geography Department at UW-Madison.  

Esri Dev Meet Up at EWUG 2012

In association with the 2012 Esri Wisconsin User Group Conference in Appleton, Esri is hosting a Esri Dev Meet Up on Wednesday evening, October 24th.  The Esri Dev Meet Up is a social gathering for developers to discuss geospatial technologies, complementary third-party tools, and development platforms that are supported by Esri.  

SCO update on PLSS Layer Pilot Project

In 2011 the State Cartographer’s Office (SCO) announced a new pilot project to develop an updated and more accurate Public Land Survey System (PLSS) digital dataset for the state of Wisconsin.  The intent of this project is to develop and test methods to aggregate accurate local data to update the statewide Landnet dataset produced by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the 1990’s.
