David Mockert hired as Geographic Information Officer

On September 1, 2005, State Chief information Officer Matt Miszewski announced the hiring of David Mockert as the first Geographic Information Officer (GIO) for the State of Wisconsin. Mockert’s first day on the job is Monday, September 19th.

Mockert has an extensive background in information technology, with specialized experience in developing, implementing and managing geographic information systems (GIS). He served as the GIS Administrator for the City of Indianapolis-Marion County, Indiana for five years, and as their Chief Information Officer for the last 18 months.

Miszewski added in the announcement, “Dave has a passion for GIS and possesses a mix of IT and business experience, having worked both in the private and public sectors. I am extremely pleased that he is bringing his skills and talents back to Wisconsin, since he was raised in Sheboygan and much of his family still resides in Wisconsin.”

A session to “meet the GIO” is currently scheduled at the ESRI Wisconsin Users Group conference in Green Bay on November 11th.
