Samson takes on new challenge as Enterprise GIS Architect

Lee Samson, formerly with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, has moved over to the Department of Administration Division of Enterprise Technology where he will be working with Geographic Information Officer Curtis Pulford.

In his new role as Enterprise GIS Technical Architect, Lee’s job is to work with all agencies and the DET division bureaus in the planning, coordination, implementation, management and tracking of the state’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure. He will work closely with DOA’s Bureau of Infrastructure Support staff regarding GIS incorporation and integration, and additionally work towards the design, standardization and implementation of enterprise systems for future geospatial business needs. 

Lee previously worked at the Hill Farms office of the DOT for the last 15 years.  For the last 10 years he has been the lead GIS support person for the DOT’s ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server software (ArcSDE and ArcIMS).  

He has a Master’s Degree in Cartography and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Statistics, both from UW-Madison.
