The largest professional association of surveyors and cartographers has decided to decentralize. The individual societies making up the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) now are more autonomous although they will contract with ACSM for various services including the joint conventions.
As a result, there will no longer be memberships in ACSM; rather, individuals will belong to one or more of the separate societies.
